Sue Ellen's Quilt is Finished!

Sue Ellen made this fun quilt as a gift.  I can't remember who it's for--only that she's not keeping it!  Her work is always perfect!

Sue Ellen picked the quilting design and requested that it be loosely quilted--not tight or too dense.  I think this looks just about right:
I'm ready for my close up Mr. De Mille:

Kathleen's Stars Quilt is Finished!

We love this quilt!  Who wouldn't? Wish I knew the name of it..

We used a variegated thread from Superior Threads Rainbow line.  These are high sheen 3 ply poly's.  This one had all the colors in Kathleen's quilt:

Amy's Quilt is Done!!

Amy was referred to us from the wonderful staff of Wish Upon a Quilt in Raleigh.  Lucky us!!  This baby quilt is simply adorable:

Here's a close up of the new quilting design that we used:

Amy incorporated  the cutest  panel into her backing.  We love pieced backs, and take great care to center the images perfectly.  The quilting design will always stand out on solid backing fabrics.  Take this into consideration when choosing your backing fabrics.

This one's for a special girl!!

Tracie made this beautiful quilt for a very special little girl!

Five down, One to Go!!

OK, here's three more of the six quilts that Julia is making for (fill in the blank as you wish....I'm still not sayin' what for).  This makes five total.  By the way, the batting that we are using on all of these quilts is Hobbs Tuscany Wool.  Wool + Fairly Dense Quilting = Beautiful
This first quilt received a design by Tammy Finkler, another one of our favorite designers and teachers.  It has ferns, Butterflies, and flowers.

Here's some detail of the quilting.  Remember, you can click on any image for more detail.

This next quilt had me singing "Mellow Yellow" by Donovan.  Johnny tells me it was a hoot graduating from high school in 1970.  I guess Donovan actually got a whole lot of people smoking banana peels because of this song.  Weird times.....

The quilting design is called Daisy Days by Kay Oft .  Kay's an excellent instructor.  We always seek her out at Statler Retreats.

And finally, the pink and blue one!

The quilting design on this one is called Wonderland, and it's from our way too extensive Ann Bright collection.  We've never got an opportunity to meet Anne in person.  Maybe at the next Statler Conference.

This last photo is a good example of how the Bears use overall designs to create a very custom look--without the custom price!!

Kathleen's van Gogh quilt is finished!

Kathleen made this beautiful quilt for her husband.  The brilliantly hued prints are reminiscent of van Gogh's paintings.

A piece like this, at least for me, is difficult to quilt in that it must be simply, but adequately quilted.  Every strait seam was SID.  The prints were all cross hatched using a neutral shade of sew fine thread.  The beautiful print border was also crossed hatched.  Anything more would compete with the fabric.  I don't want to compete with Mr. van Gogh.  I'm afraid I'd lose.
