Ellen's Quilt is Finished!!

Ellen contacted me in September regarding The Bears quilting her quilt. She wanted to know what date I would need it in order for her to get it by Christmas. She's a perfect example of "call ahead seating". I placed her on the schedule after we estimated her completion date. Whew! Pressures off - now I can just sew! (at least that's how I would feel!!!). But wait--you can't beleive this quilt; it's gorgeous! What a job she did on the paper pieced birds. And the back is pieced as well. I had to call in the Maestro (Johnny) who is the BEST at lining up pieced backs. (did you know we work together full time - he is a Certified Trainer for the Statler Stitcher. His knowledge and skills are invaluble!!) After I apply the binding for her (I call this my binding #1 service - see website for details), I'll get some full shots of the whole quilt, including the back. Until then, here are a few Pics:

Amie's Quilt

Today's quilt belongs to Amie who lives in New York, NY.  But here's the story.  Amie's good friend (maybe best friend??) is her roommate from college.  They have  remained  friends ever since meeting each other freshman year at UNC Chapel Hill.  Amie's friends Mom, Ina Phay, who lives in Hillsboro, NC agreed to help  Amie get this quilt finished.  The quilt was beautifully pieced by Amie's great grandmother many years ago. So Ina Phay added the borders and brought it to Three Bears Studio for a consultation.  We were thrilled to have the opportunity to help get this quilt completed so many years after it was pieced.

One last thought about this quilt:  These two girls have remained friends for over 15 years.  Think about this  the next time you meet someone for the first time.

P.S.  Ina Phay is going to bind this 100 x 100 quilt.  Now that's a true friend.

Two Quilts Finished!!

Holy Guacamole it's been a busy three days!! But 2 fabulous quilts are finished and soon to be in the hands of their owners. The first was a quilt for Anna Norris, a fantastic instructor for Wish Upon A Quilt in Raleigh.

The next quilt was an adorable Jungle Theme Quilt pieced by a new customer, Claire P.  It was beautifully pieced and so fun to quilt.  We put some funky feathers all over.  If I remember correctly, this is a Christmas gift for her daughter.  Maybe she's an animal lover, like we are.  In any event, here it is:

French Braid is finished!

I can't wait to deliver this Quilt to Celeste tomorrow.  I know it's a Christmas gift, but it turned out soooo nice - I wish she would show it----anywhere!  Tomorrow's quilt is another Christmas present - and the one after that, and the one after that, and the one----you get the idea.

French Braid

Today's Quilt was pieced by my friend Celeste, the manager of all things Bernina at Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I think she told me this is a Christmas present. The Quilt is a French Braid and is offered as a class from time to time at Thimble Pleasures. You can find the pattern in the book French Braid Quilts by Jane Hardy Miller. I've decided against an overall pattern, although I have seen this quilt finished this way many times very nicely. I think you'll agree, custom was the way to go here.
