Anne's Sorbet Quilt is Finished!

Anne and her mom made this beautiful King Size quilt for Anne's  best friend Jane.  The colors really do look like Sorbet, and that would not be a bad thing to have on a hot day like today.  I feel cooler already!

Anne picked out the quilting design.  It's called Teddy Bear Rose from our extensivee One Song Collection, and it's hot off the press.  Perfect choice Anne!  Here's a bit of detail!

Yabba-Dabba-Do!!!!

Linda's Dinosaur quilt is finished.   I must confess--I have totally bonded with Dino, and will be sorry to see him go:

"How about using a clam shell type design inside Dino?"  I was thrilled with Linda's idea, as I was coming up with zero!
The background was quilted with a fern design.  The two inner borders provide a nice frame, as they are SID only.  Lastly, the outer border has a subtle leaf design quilted in:

Linda's Bunny quilt is finished!

This quilt will make an adorable gift for a new baby!
Linda requested that it be quilted simply----so we did!  Here's some detail of the quilting and of the adorable bunny fabric:

Bargello Variation is finished!

The last of 7 quilts for Jeans friend is now finished.  This one's a beauty - I think it's a variation on a Bargello.  I really like the way it was assembled.

Here's some detail of the quilting design that we used within the borders:

The outer border had a separate design, but it doesn't show up in the picture.  Oh well, how about one more of the interior?

Pineapple Wall Hanging is now finished!

This beautiful wall hanging was also made by Jean's friend.  It's perfect.
Here's a close up of one of the Pineapple blocks.  I have seen this type of block quilted many different ways.  I decided to toss all that out, and do what I wanted to do.  I'm very pleased with the result!
The flower blocks were crosshatched.  We used Sew Fine thread, in a matching color.
And lastly, the piano key border was all SID:

Blue and White Baby Quilt is finished!

We've been working to finish up the last three quilts that Jean has given to me.  She's assisting the family of a friend in getting some of her unfinished projects quilted.  It has been a pleasure to be involved; her work is simply beautiful:

Here's some detail of the quilting design:

Owen's quilt is finished!!

Little Owen's been patiently waiting for this adorable quilt.  Cis does beautiful (and perfect) work:

The center was quilted with tiny hearts!  The inner yellow border received an "hourglass" crosshatch, but only inside those narrow red frames.  The outer border was made from fabric with little airplanes.  We wanted to showcase this fabric, so crosshatching is a great choice.

Ohio Star is Finished!

Cis pieced this bright and fun Ohio Star sampler:
We tied it all together with a vibrant variegated King Tut thread:

Cynthia's X's and O's is finished!!

It's another King Size for Cindy.  This one's a beauty!  Cindy chose the perfect quilting design.  This one is called Curlicue Feathers and it's from our Tammy Finkler collection.
Here's some detail of the quilting design.  I think the prairie points really complete the look!

Faye's Batik Quilt is Finished!

Faye pieced this beautiful quilt from batik fabrics.
The quilting design is called "Almost Paisley"  from our Anne Bright collection.  A rich, variegated King Tut thread completed the look!
Here's a little detail:

Lisa's XXX Irish Chain is Finished!

This quilt is WOWSA WOWSA WOWSA!!!
It's a different approach to an Irish Chain, at least for me, using a print for the background.  But it's really lovely, don't you think?  Down side might be that you can't see a heck of a lot of quilting in that print----unless of course you flip the quilt over.  Then, it's a beautiful whole cloth quilt!
An offset Diamond was stitched inside each block.  I don't know how many there were.  I don't want to know :-)
For contrast, the print border's were crosshatched.  The skinny pink border and the 1" red border were SID.
This type of custom quilting is soooo much easier if Lisa is the one who does the piecing!  She works at Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill, and is a true artist.  Here's two more of the back:

Is there an Irish Chain in your quilting future?  There is in mine!!

Kyoko's Table Runner is finished!!

Kyoko does such perfect work!  The colors of this Table Runner remind me of a latte from Starbucks.
Remember, the bears quilt all shapes and sizes.  Big and small.  Wouldn't a table runner like this make a great house warming, wedding shower, or Christmas gift???

Lauren's wall hanging is finished!!

What's not to love about this stunning wall hanging?  Lauren has a spectacular eye for color.  She came to the studio and looked at quilting designs and thread choices. I was thrilled to have her input.
The thread we chose was a blue/grey variagated from Superior's King Tut line.  The Bears love thread, and have an insane amount of choices to offer each quilt.
And one more--can't resist [:-)]

Lisa's Quilt is Finished!

We just love this quilt that Lisa made.  All the fabrics can be found at Thimble Pleasures in Chapel Hill.
Here's a birds eye view of the fabric--and the quilting!
The inner striped border was SID;  Lisa wanted the outer black border quilted in Black to completely frame out this quilt.  It's a great look!

Carpenter's Star is Finished!

Joyce did a terrific job piecing this Carpenters Star!  We couldn't resist throwin' down a lot of thread on this one!

This quilt had four borders that really frame this quilt nicely!

Carol's Applique Quilt is finished!!

Where to start??  A picture is worth 1,000:
Carol spent years on this beautiful applique quilt.  It will be shown in the DOQ show in October.

We really took our time, and used many different designs and techniques:
I'm a cat lover, so all the cats on this quilt get a heart!
Everything was outlined, about 1/8".  Different background fills were used throughout the quilt.  Because it is a "sampler" type quilt, it seemed fitting to do more than a stipple to fill in behind the applique.  For instance, the background fill for the house blocks were clouds!
This basket was echoed at .20 apart.  This created the fill for that block:

It's a real advantage having two of us working on quilts with this much detail!  Johnny's signature curlicues were used to fill in around the applique on the top and side borders:

Probably the most fun was the fence along the bottom of the quilt.  Designs were created especially for this space on the quilt, between the fence posts:
A bit more detail of the bottom.

Th-th-that's all folks!!
